What Plantar Fascia Feels Like
Plantar fasciitis is degeneration of the plantar fascia — the thick band of tissue along the bottom of the foot from heel to toes. Like Achilles tendinopathy, it's a load tolerance problem more than an inflammation problem.
- Sharp pain in the heel with the first morning steps
- Arch tightness after sitting that eases after a few steps
- Pain that worsens late in the day after standing or walking
- Tenderness on the inside of the heel when pressed
